Responsible for all purchases of items processed within the Royal Bahamas Defence Force. The Purchasing Process includes the following:

Requesting Departments would submit a DF-159 Requisition Form for items,

I would then process the Requisition Form to obtain a quotation and submit a Purchase Order Requisition Form to the Accounting Section on HMBS Coral Harbour Base, who would approve and authorize permission to obtain the purchase,

The Purchase Order would then be submitted to the Warehouse Transport Section for collection from vendor,

Warehouse Receiving Department would confirm condition(s) and quantity(ies) of items and reconcile vendors’ invoice against purchase,

Demanding Departments would then submit a Requisition Form for items from the Warehouse Issuing Section,

The Base Supply Officer would certify vendors’ Invoice correct for payment then send it back to the Accounts Section who would defray liability to the vendor in order for the vendor to receive their payment.

Other responsibilities include sometimes faxing companies internationally and nationwide in order to obtain reasonable prices for certain items, logging all information of each purchase and activities in a designated book and on the computer as well in Microsoft Excel, printing jobs for employees of outstanding and up-to-date payments.

Guard/Port Security 2013 to 2014

The International Ship and Port Security Code (ISPS) key Security areas for the most effective port protection and anti-terrorist countermeasures include access control, monitoring the facility and cargo security. Access control is required measures designed to prevent unauthorized access to the Port facility, to ships moored at the facility and to restricted areas of the facility. Monitoring is required measures for Port facility, restricted areas, anchoring & berthing areas, designed to prevent weapons, other dangerous substances intended to for use against persons, ships or ports from being introduced into the Port facility or onboard a ship. Cargo Security is required measures designed to ensure security of cargo and the handling area.

Before commencing duty I am to ensure that I am fully aware of my responsibilities in relation to the International Ship and Port Security Code as aforementioned.

As a Guard I am responsible for preventing unauthorized entry of person(s) or vehicles at Prince George Wharf.

The Guard is not to leave his/her post until properly relieved.

The Guard while on duty is not to talk to persons unless it is in the line of duty.

I challenge in a proper manner any unauthorized person in the vicinity of the post. If any such person(s), when challenged, have no legitimate authorization to be at Prince George Wharf, the guard is to detain this person(s) and contact the Senior Non-Commission Officer who will contact the Police and the RBDF Port Security Operation Senior Rate (in his absence contact RBDF Port Security Officer).

When any situation arises I am to ensure that the Guard Commander is informed immediately.

The Guard is to contact the Guard Commander when he/she is uncertain about any situation.

The Guard is to give Marks of Respect to all persons deserving

All Marines that are assigned to a checkpoint or other duties must request a side arm, a baton and a radio before proceeding on duty.

Once it is determined that an individual is intoxicated, that person is to remain outside of the secure side of Prince George Wharf. The Guard Commander is to be informed immediately. The Ship agent is to be notified and if he is unavailable the ship chief of security is to be informed and he is to deal with the situation. The incident is to be documented to include person identity, and ship to which they belong. The Guard Commander is to log name of ship security officer, crew and passenger name, date and time of event. Any movement of intoxicated person is to be approved or disapproved by Guard Commander and noted. At no time should an intoxicated person be allowed on the secure side unsupervised.

Security Officer II 2015 to 2020
