Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care

Primary care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner providing primary, urgent, and preventative care services in an outpatient setting for children ages newborn to 21 years old. Job responsibilities include: obtaining health histories, providing comprehensive physical exams, developmental screenings, sports physicals, vaccinations, patient/family education, evaluating lab or diagnostic tests, and devising treatment protocols and management strategies. I provide pharmacological and non-pharmacological management and treatment of various disorders and chronic diseases such as asthma, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, obesity, ADHD, and an assortment of common pediatric chronic conditions. I also diagnose and treat acute illnesses such as upper respiratory infections, bacterial and viral pharyngitis, otitis media, gastroenteritis, cellulitis, rashes, warts, sexually transmitted infections, and other minor or acute infections of childhood. I regularly consult with specialists and help manage their care plans at the primary care level for chronic conditions like Cystic Fibrosis, hypothyroidism, Type I and II Diabetes, uncontrolled migraines, and a variety of conditions. I typically care for 18-22 patients per day, making referrals as needed and consulting with other interdisciplinary team members in the office including the pediatricians, other nurse practitioners, nursing staff, social workers, and administrative staff. I participate in annual continuing education seminars. I ensure all records are efficiently and accurately updated within the electronic health record.

I directed care for pediatric patients of all age ranges, developmental, nutritional and physiological status in the inpatient setting at Children Hospital Colorado’s main campus and network of care hospitals.
