Heatpipesarerecentlyusedasacoolingmethodorheatrecoveringdevicesbutthelimitof heattransferisconstrainedtocertainvaluesduetotheinherentlypoorthermalperformance ofconventionalfluids(suchaswater)andrestrictionsindevelopingenergyefficientheat transferfluids.Inthisstudy,thethermalperformanceofacircularheatpipewithwater, acetoneandethanolasaworkingfluidisbeenanalysedinbothexperimentalyand numerical.Experimentationisdonetostudyheatpipeswithdifferentworkingfluidsinorder todeterminethethermalcapabilityofworkingfluid.whichisthenverifiedbytheresult computedfrom numericalsimulationusingCFD.Modelingofheatpipewilbedoneusing licensedAnsysFluentavailableatourcampus.

Withinthelastfewyearstherehasbeenarapidincreaseintheutilizationofaluminiumaloy 6061-siliconcarbide,particularlyintheautomobileindustries,duetotheirhighstrengthto weightratio,highwearresistance,lowdensityandlowcoefficientofthermalexpansion.The advancementsinthefieldofapplicationmakethestudyoftheirwearandtensilebehaviorof atmostimportance.Inthispresentinvestigation,Alumminiumbasedaloyscontaining5%, 10%,15%and20%weightofsiliconcarbideweresynthesizedusingstircastingmethod. Compositionalanalysisofdiferentsamplesofsamecompositionhaveshownnear distributionofsicinthepreparedaloys.Tensiletestsisconductedbyusinguniversal testingmachine.BrinelhardnessnumberandRockwelhardnessnumberaredeterminedby usinghardnesstestingmachine.Yieldstrengthhasincreasedwithincreaseinsilicon carbidepercentage.
