Project Work:

UNDER-GRADUATE LEVEL:

Title: Modelling of three phase four switch PWM voltage-source rectifier in d-q synchronous frame using MATLAB.

Description: My project aimed towards developing a three phase four switch rectifier in which the firing circuitry was controlled by the implementation of SPWM technique. POST-GRADUATE LEVEL:

PHASE I

Title: Performance analysis of various types of fault current limiters using PSCAD.

Description: My project aimed towards developing various types of fault current limiters like Superconducting, Solid-State, Hybrid fault current limiter and analysing its performance during various ground, phase faults.

PHASE II

Title: Performance analysis of various types of fault current limiters in an HVDC system using PSCAD.

Description: This phase of my work focused on analysing the performance of the developed fault current limiters in a monopolar HVDC platform during various ground and phase faults. Publications:

1. Published a paper titled “Effect of inter-turn faults in modified line-end coil voltage waveform pertaining to low voltage random wound induction motors” in the International Journal of Applied Engineering Research, Volume 12, Number 1, 2017.

(Scopus indexed Journal).

2. Published a paper titled “Performance analysis of various types of fault current limiters using PSCAD” in the International Journal of Advanced Research in Electrical, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering.Vol. 3, Issue 5, May 2014. Conference:

1. Presented a paper titled “Performance analysis of various types of fault current limiters using PSCAD” in the National Conference on Computational Intelligence in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, organized by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Sathyabama University on February 6 th

and 7

th

2014.

Industrial Consultancy work involved:

1. Prediction of let through current thereby the let through energy in C type low voltage circuit breaker of 6, 10,16,25,32, and 63 Ampere rating for L&T Limited, Coimbatore from September 2015 to March 2016.

Culmination:

1. The heating effect in the contact region was calculated using empirical Formulae. 2. The literature survey conducted enabled to calculate the arcing time between the contacts. 3. From the arcing time, mechanical opening time of the contacts and decay time of the arc were calculated.

4. The let through energies for various current were calculated. 5. This let through energy is responsible for the temperature rise of the contacts. 6. This energy not only affects the MCB but also flows through the wire to which it is connected. 7. This causes serious mechanical deformity to the wire as a result the prolonged action may result in fire accident.

Online Certifications:

Successfully completed an online certification course on “Power System Analysis” with a consolidated score of 75%, (Elite Certification) conducted by the Department of Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, during July-October 2017 through NPTEL.

Appeared for the BEC Preliminary exam conducted by Cambridge English Language Assessment, University of Cambridge during May 2017 and obtained “Pass- with an overall Score of 150, over a scale of 170 (Level-B1)”.

Innovative Project Guided:

Title: Cyclic Star- Delta-Star Energy saver for Heavy application (Jan-Mar’2016). Industry: BHEL Tiruchirappalli.

Project Description: Implementing a cyclic star-delta-star converter to a three phase induction motor, makes the machine to run at improved efficiency during lightly loaded condition. This in turn reduces the power consumption and hence ensures energy conservation. Industrial Training:

Participated in a one week industrial training at GE Bangalore under the guidance of Dr. Ravi Segal

(Managing Director) from 29

th

May to 2

nd

June 2017.

Topic: Emerging Trends in Power Industry.
