In this work capsules in circular and square cross sections filled with PCM were used in a double pass counter flow SAH and improvement in the efficiency was determined. Capsules were placed in aligned and staggered arrangement perpendicular to the flow direction of the air and paraffin wax was used as the PCM. Experiments were conducted with mass flow rates of air, resulted Square encapsules in staggered arrangement increases efficiency of SAH by 25% compared to square encapsules in aligned arrangement. Average thermal performance factor of SAH with absorber plate fixed with encapsules in staggered grid arrangement was 50.88% higher than that of SAH with absorber plate fixed with encapsules in aligned grid arrangement.
