Work Experience and Main Achievements:

Senior Reservoir Engineer – PDO, Muscat, Oman (Jul 2013 – Present)

Spearheaded a new Field Development Plan (FDP) for a green Tight Sandstone Gas Condensate field in Oman thru effective fit-for-purpose full-field compositional dynamic simulation (Experimental Design, Assisted History matching and prediction), using worldwide best practices, leaded to selection of optimum surface and subsurface development scenarios.

Matured 5.1 Bcm from Contingent Resources (CR) into Developed Reserves, developed a way to use existing plant compression (NFA), delayed investment of new compression (beyond current Business Plan), reduced required compression capacity and CAPEX (saved $40M).

Minimized CAPEX of development-wells project thru well-spacing optimization and wells UR/NPV Creaming analysis (6 wells less than previous FDP). Saved $70M. Maximized NPV.

Evolved and introduced new appraisal projects for supper tight gas reservoirs (i.e. Horizontal wells with Massive Multistage Hydraulic Fractures, Fish-bone), reduced the gap to EUR Top Quartile (TQ).

Invested all available historical PLT data of matured gas fields to optimize WRFM Surveillance acquisitions frequency, reduced number of candidates by 40%, replaced by fingerprinting (C-Isotopes) measurements, saved $0.6M of well OPEX.

Grew effective fractures-modeling techniques of Tight-Gas Sandstone using Sector and full-field simulation models, reduced uncertainties and optimized frac economic. Optimized number of fracs for 12 new wells. Saved 30% of wells completion CAPEX.

Replaced the conventional Arps DCA (with many unrealistic assumptions) with modern RTA technique (considering actual change in well BHP) instead, as a production forecast tool for fields without reliable numerical simulators, revamped reserves estimation of many fields.

Revolutionized a methodology to narrow down the uncertainty ranges of hydrocarbon-in-place and ultimate recovery, built MBAL tank models for 17 layers with dynamic data from 160 wells.

Senior Reservoir Engineer – QATARGAS, Doha, Qatar (Jun 2007 – Jun 2013)

Innovated and implemented a new cost-effective integrated well-testing strategy, gathered multi-rate PLT, Flow-After-Flow, PBU (PTA) and SBHP all in one single well intervention, saved $250K per year.

Leaded the definition of necessary reservoir data acquisitions (PVT fluids, conventional and SCAL, well testing, logs, cores) to characterize and predict reservoir behavior to reduce the uncertainties for new concessions and blocks received by OPCO.

Evolved a new standardized PTA/PLT interpretation guideline, trained nine junior engineers on it, eliminated hiring a contractor, and saved $150K.

Leaded a reliable Black-oil and Compositional single-well Radial simulation study, diagnosed weird pressure transient responses (condensate banking/blockage, different permeability/Layering, limited-entry, no flow boundaries).

Spearheaded a multi-disciplinary team to initiate in-house full-field compositional-simulation model, optimized number, locations, and well spacing of development and infill wells, completion strategy, and production plateaus.

Created new well models for 90 wells, used Prosper best practices, investigated VLP issues, and solved issues of liquid-loading wells.

Reservoir Engineer – PETROBEL/ENI, Cairo, Egypt (Jan 2001 – Jun 2007)

Modernized guidelines to select the right Cased-hole reservoir-saturation monitoring technique (Sigma, C/O, CHFR) based on a comprehensive technical and economical comparison study.

Developed and implemented a new design of Deliverability test for low permeability gas wells instead of the conventional long Modified Isochronal, decreased the testing time by 60%.

Achieved the reservoir management tasks of an EOR Water-flooding project in a mature oil field for pressure maintenance. Optimized reservoir saturation monitoring strategy.

Initiated a new proposal to use CHFR log instead of conventional Sigma in one of the oil fields after observing failed Sigma results in reservoirs with low formation water salinity.

Designed and troubleshoot the Artificial Lift pumping systems (ESP, Sucker-Rod, PCP) for more than 50 oil wells in mature and depleted oil fields.

Supervised and interpreted over 120 onsite well-intervention jobs: Cased hole logging (PLT, RST, CNL, WFL, TDT, CHFR, USIT, CBL), Smart Completion, DST, stimulation (Hydraulic Fracturing, Acidizing), MDT (pressure, sampling), perforation (WL, TCP), sand control, and slug tests.
