Key Functions Delivered & Achievements:
• Ensure accurate forecasting of month to month spending for various cost codes, track CTD vs forecasted values and accruing for expected costs.
• Compile tracking sheets and compare expenditures and forecasted values to the project budget.
• Responsible for the coordination and planning of all major asset deliveries to site as per project programme requirements. This included 6 x Roadheaders for tunneling purposes and supporting plant such as excavators, dump trucks, forklifts and other earth moving vehicles.
• Successfully planned and executed the delivery, assembly, and commissioning of 6 x Roadheaders and supporting fleet of equipment. This included direct communication with local and international suppliers, compiling lift studies for the delivery of equipment, hiring cranes for offloading and installation and planning with other stakeholders on site to coordinate deliveries and installation of equipment, obtaining necessary permits and complying with environmental guidelines.
• Planning and executing maintenance schedules and ensuring availability targets are reached and minimizing downtime in order to achieve production targets.
• Oversee the procurement of all spare parts, consumables and warranty claims for entire fleet and mechanical workshop.
• Implemented systems and tracking sheets for accurately keeping track of the usage of consumables and spare parts as well as reordering.
• Kept track of GET consumption rates and made improvements to this by changing the carbide tip on the front on the picks to a different size, which still gave us the daily BCM rate while reducing pick consumption.
• Sold used picks back to supplier for a portion of the profit when he sells the remaining carbide in the tips to a buyer.
• Managing subcontractors and ensuring supply contracts are adhered to.
• Responsible for the planning and installation of supporting site services. This included the layout of the entire site, planning the distribution layout for supporting services such as compressed air piping, industrial water supply on surface and in the tunnel as well as the dewatering of the tunnel.

WORK EXPERIENCE
• Successfully installed compressors and air receivers for the supply of compressed air, industrial water pump installation and commissioning as well as constructing the tunnel dewatering plan, pump selection and designs for buffer tanks.
• Successfully installed 2 x 355 kW fresh air ventilation fans each weighing 17 tonnes and hanging vertically from the tunnel portal due to space limitations. This included making changes to designs, obtaining and interpreting as-built drawings in order to space proof, obtaining certifications for my design changes and following all other engineering principles to safely install the fans such as NDT testing and FEA on ventilation ducting changes.
• Set up of quality control documents such as Inspection and Test Plans, ensure quality controls are adhered to and that witness points are signed off.
• Raising RFIs and resolving any non-conformance issues, compile safety documents such as Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure safety procedures are adhered to by doing weekly inspections and in the field audits.
• Provided all mechanically related supporting services to the production team such as making changes to equipment to increase productivity.
• Complete designs for structures and equipment as required.
• Following design plans and drawings, making changes to proposed designs to better suit site requirements and temporary design proposals.
• Implemented an accurate fuel tracking system in order to keep track of bulk fuel deliveries as well as fuel usage on site.
MECHANICAL ENGINEER
John Holland Sydney Australia (Sydney Metro 2 Tunnel Boring Project) May 2018 – December 2019
Key Functions Delivered & Achievements:
• Assisting in the coordination and planning of the delivery, assembly, and commissioning of 2 x tunnel boring machines. This included arranging shipments from Germany, obtaining necessary permits for release of items from ports and all other logistic arrangements involved in getting the machines from Germany to Australia.
• Obtaining road permits for oversized vehicles and configuring the best route from storage facilities to site.
• Procurement of all tools, equipment and consumables required to assemble the machines .
• Making use of and managing subcontractors to assist in the assembly (welding and lifting operations).
• We successfully assembled the machines in 6 weeks for production to start.
• Planning and executing the demobilization of the machines from the ground after we have reached our 8.1 km target chainage. This included lift studies, demobilization of the machine in segments in order to lift it out and for transportation, designing push cylinders to side shift the machine in order to lift it out, logistics of getting the machine back to Germany and all other OEM demobilization requirements.
• Responsible for coordinating the delivery, assembly, and commissioning of supporting equipment such as segment carriers, forklifts, excavators, skidsteers, telehandlers, dump trucks and agitators.
• Maintenance scheduling, execution and monitoring of entire fleet.
• Responsible for planning the site layout and site supporting services layout and distribution of surface and into the tunnels. This included compressed air supply, industrial water supply, tunnel dewater plan, setup of cooling plant and grout plant and the diesel refuel bay
• Design of tunnel and surface service pipe brackets, securing a contract with a supplier for manufacturing 8.1 km worth of service brackets.
• Successfully implemented systems to keep track of the consumption of service brackets, service pipes and all fittings in order to ensure there are always enough on site and to arrange deliveries in advance.
• Successfully designed platforms to be mounted onto our existing segment carriers for demobilization of the tunnel services.
• Installation of permanent fresh air fans and jet fans throughout the tunnel.
• Compiling safety documents such as Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs).
