COVER LETTER ON RESEARCH EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
For as long back I can remember, knowledge has always fascinated me. I have always been motivated by some ingrained competitiveness to know more than the next person. Early on, however, I recognised that the mere acquisition of information was not enough for me. I wanted to actually achieve something with what I knew, solve problems, which would affect the real world. I came to the conclusion that the intelligent usage of technology was vital to improve human lives and solve related problems. It was therefore I decided to become a scientist. Though I am from a non-scientific family background but my parents have always motivated me to excel in whatever career I choose for myself. I wanted to make my parents proud because they are the ones to whom I owe all my achievements in my life. I naturally took up Biochemistry as my undergraduate specialization, as I believed it would bring me closer to finding answers to the challenging questions of biology, for instance, how levels of complex molecules interact to enable autonomous functioning of living organisms.
After doing my B.Sc. Biochemistry (H) from a reputed college of Burdwan University, Durgapur College of Commerce and Science. I had learnt the technique of Gene Cloning to clone the genes of Mycobacterium tuberculosis in my internship days where I grew interest in genetics and thereby it became my favourite subject. I realized that a comprehensive understanding of genetics is possible only when scientific theories are supported by practical experiments. I gave national level entrances for post-graduation and cleared the examination and finally got admission in a reputed college under Periyar University on M.Sc. Biochemistry specialization. During my second semester I have succesfully completed 15 days of internship on clinical laboratory. Here in my postgraduate I was exposed to recent development in modern era of biochemistry and genetics which include the transfer of specific genes from one organism to another, cloning, and the fusing of different types of cells to produce medical products like monoclonal antibodies. I have submitted my M.Sc. dissertation on human work on myocardial infarction which was totally rat model based experiment. I had got oppurtunity to participate and present my research work on Young Scientist Conference organised by India International Science Festival 2019. Finally by god’s grace I completed my postgraduate with a CGPA of 9.0 in the final semester. And currently working as an Assistant Professor in a college, after joining here I had completed a training programme sponsored by IISC, Bangalore (Indian Institue of Science). Now I would like to serve the mankind by developing a cure for genetic diseases just like other common diseases which are non genetic in nature which will prove to be a major breakthrough. My interest lies in the field of genetics based on genomics, gene manipulation, and expression which are the most important target site against any genetic disease. During my masters, guidance from my elite faculties increased my interest many folds and I presented a talk on Molecular markers in genetic disorders with special reference to diabetes in an intercollege conference and had published the same in conference proceeding, which was highly applauded. Since then I became so fascinated with this field and started reading research papers on it and got acquainted with the diversity of this field.
