Laboratory Experience
ZIKV Research at RNA Institute, Intern at Cara Pager’s PhD Lab-RNA Institute Aug 2019- May 2020
• Performed intensive Zika virus research under guidance of an investigator
• Completed research assignments in an effective and timely manner
• Modified RNA structures of ZIKV with Dengue virus components and mutated ZIKV 5’ and 3’ CS through site directed mutagenesis
• Performed laboratory techniques such as gel electrophoresis, bacterial transformation, northern blot analysis, in vitro translation to prepare RNA
• Retrieved data from RNA translation assay and observed ZIKV translation levels at different time intervals
• Investigated translational levels of ΔDB structures and 5’ and 3’ CS mutated regions of ZIKV to determine whether the mutations affect ZIKV translation
Skills
• Laboratory techniques such as but not limited to:
-PCR reaction
-gel electrophoresis
-Northern Blot Analysis
