To apply my extensive background in machine design and mechanical engineering into a role as an innovative contributor and leader of the company's success.
Experience
Burke E. Porter Machinery Grand Rapids, MI March ’16 - May ‘20 Mechanical Engineer
-Used Solidworks to design machinery for the automotive testing industry
-Developed new automated tool change process and improved cycle time 25% over original requirement
-Lead team of three engineers in designing manual assembly stations for hydraulic valves
-High level of customer and vendor communication in domestic and international facilities
-Used both Solidworks and Inventor to design complex new machines
-Design with NAAMS as required by customer
Belco Industries Belding, MI May ’15 – March ‘16
Mechanical Project Engineer
-Managed structural steel design: detailed connection points & copes, verified all fabrication drawings, produced cut sheet for all steel
-Designed cooling tunnel and conveyor personnel guarding
-Generated fabrication drawings of tanks, sealed washer housing, immersion tube burner, and spray risers.
-Calculated tank size based on pump capacity
Osprey Corporation Atlanta, GA Oct ’10 – May ‘15
Mechanical Project Engineer
Primary Accomplishments: Designed drum filter systems using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, maintained ship lists to ensure all necessary parts reach the customer, represented Osprey as the main point of contact with customers on each project, on site start up of select systems once installation is complete, trouble shoot on site if issues arise.
-Designed bulk material handling system that receives whole diapers and separates them back into raw materials in a continuous process
-Successfully determined location of equipment in existing facility to minimize duct run
-Accurately determined fan specifications and duct sizing, on-time release of equipment for production and managed ship list of all equipment
-Oversaw successful on-site start up and customer check out, including adjustment of machine set points via HMI or blast gates, verified proper installation, and guaranteed performance results
-Designed bulk material handling system that separates whole diapers into raw materials, stores reclaimed product, and reintroduces back into production line
-Oversaw refurbishment of used equipment, specified and ordered new motors per CE specifications, and redesigned guards and pinch points to current safety standards
-Responsible for on site start up and customer check out, tuning of fans by HMI and blast gates to predetermined airflows, onsite trouble shooting until all machines running properly
-Responsible for all industrial conveyor oven design projects
-Minimized total number of panels to maximize profit, also created spreadsheet to accurately determine insulation, caulk and fasteners to reduce sending unnecessary extras
-All enclosure designs installed successfully and matched required interconnection points International Applied Engineering, INC. Marietta, GA Sept ’08 – Oct ‘10 Mechanical Engineer
Major Projects Completed
Direct fired wood combustor into 6MW gas turbine Sept ’08-April ‘09
-SolidWorks detailed design of propane start-up system, pressurized fuel feeder and structural steel, and various piping and valve components
-Wrote Operation & Maintenance manual for proprietary pressurized fuel feeder
-Performed calculations to balance vibrations in primary air piping system, cooling air needed for flame scanners, material handling flow rates and equipment design, and water needed to tune primary air temperature
Skid Mounted Ethanol Distillation Processing Facility February ’09-March ‘09
-Created and maintained SolidWorks models of conceptual skid design with piping layout
-Maintained block flow, process flow, and P&ID’s in AutoCAD throughout project
-Performed experiments on samples for solids content, filtration rates, and specific gravity Feasibility Study of Coal to Biomass Conversion for Utility July ’09-Nov ‘09
-Managed and maintained file system on server and FTP site throughout project
-Used SolidWorks to model three different utility boiler conceptual layouts from feeder surge bin to stack, one Bubbling Fluidized Bed and two (2) vibrating grate stokers
-Designed layout for remote biomass processing facility and sized appropriate material handling equipment for transportation of woody biomass
