CYPRESS CREEK RENEWABLES Gilbert, AZ 2018-Present

Sr. Project Engineer High Voltage Substations

Managed EPC contractors for assigned high voltage substations interconnections, and gen-tie power lines. This included technical, contracts, schedules, budgets, and commissioning through mechanical competition, interconnection availability date, and turnover. Supported development, established cost estimates, schedules, and budgets; oversaw QA/QC and projects from start to completion.

Prepared all high voltage substations budgets that were within 5% of the project cost and schedules.

Worked on several development projects in Texas, Virginia and North Carolina. Prepared budgets and schedules for several development projects.

Presently working on two projects in Texas (one 135MW, 138kV transmission interconnect using external EPC and one 200MW, with a 17 mile 138kV transmission interconnect using an external EPC for the PV Plant and using an internal EPC for the substation and transmission interconnect), one project in North Carolina (25MW, 44kV sub-transmission interconnect), one project in Oregon (25MW, 115kV transmission interconnect with a 5 mile 34.5kV collection line) and one in Virginia (one 135MW, 115kV transmission interconnect).

Sr. Project Manager Commissioning and Testing High Voltage

Managed all commissioning and testing of the 230kV substation upgrades. Replaced protective relay, switchgear, transformers and beakers as necessary, and upgraded substation controls and cap banks. Conducted cost estimates, organized schedules and staffing assignments, and ensured quality assurance/quality control while managing project to completion.

Created outage plans for testing and commissioning of the new relay and control installations in PSE&G 230kV substations.

Maintained schedules and ensured drawings were accurate and installation was completed within outage durations.

WORLEYPARSONS Folsom, CA 2012-2014

Led daily design activities on all contracted transmission and distribution substation and power line projects with various clients; this included protective relay, switchgear, transformer, and breaker replacements, as well as substation control and cap bank upgrades.

Worked on sun powers 60 MVAR capacitor bank and stowing generator design and installation at California Valley Solar Farm.

Led third party review of wiring issues at NRG’s 590MW Solar Power Plant in Rosemond, CA; ensured complete project oversight with cost estimates, schedules, budgets, staff assignments, and training.

Improved quality of design work completed by assigned team members; provided feedback to make improvements and mentored staff to continue to increase quality of work.

BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT Athens, AL 2010-2012

Sr. Engineering Manager I&C, Tennessee Valley Authority

Supported all design activities related to plant modifications, with 22 direct reports (electrical and I&C design engineers). Designs included modifications to existing equipment and replacement of obsolete equipment.

Monitored design of the 500kV primary and back-up protective relaying line protection, and oversaw replacement of the capacitor bank protective relays with new microprocessor based relays.

Dedicated substantial efforts to improving relationships between management and the electrical/I&C design team.

KENNY CONSTRUCTION COMPANY Multiple Locations 2007-2010

Sr. Project Manager/Engineering Manager

Took on multiple contract-based projects throughout three-year tenure, including:

PSE&G of Newark New Jersey: Installed replacement transformers, breakers, SCADA Systems, and protective relaying at several of PSE&G substations downtown Newark (previously outdated and any mistakes would cause unplanned outages).

PECO of Philadelphia Pennsylvania: Assisted PECO in documenting the original installation and installing 44 replacement protective relay panels and a new SCADA control system at their large customer substation for SUNOCO.

765kV PATH Project (alliance between AEP and Allegheny Power): Worked on permitting, ROW, environmental, design, procurement, and construction of a 280-mile 765kV transmission power line and two major 765kV/500kV transmission substations in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland.

Rocky Mountain Power: Performed EPC Contracts for a 250-mile 161kV double circuit transmission power line, 2000 miles of underground/overhead distribution power lines; also installed 15 161kV/34.5kV substations all within budget and schedule.

PacifiCorp Quantum Leap & Pacific Corp Transmission Upgrade Projects: Constructed transmission and distribution of assigned substations and power lines. Completed EPC coordination of subcontractors providing EPC services including engineering, construction, permitting, GEO Technical, procurement of major equipment, surveying, and environmental services.
