The LDB operates approximately 200 retail liquor stores, 2 warehouse distribution centers, and a head office in Vancouver B.C. The Branch employs 3,500 people and generates over $900M in profits annually for the province.

Developed and executed a 3 year rolling, risk based internal audit plan covering all operations of the LDB.
Specific achievements and responsibilities included:
Established a three-year rolling risk based internal audit plan / program and quarterly Executive reporting process;
Developed and executed a risk-based retail store audit selection and detailed internal controls focused audit program and reporting program for a population of 200 retail stores across the province of BC;
Managed a team of 8 professional staff with a department budget of $1.2M;

Director, Enterprise Risk January 2005 – April 2006
Developed and delivered a rolling three year, risk based internal audit plan and compliance regime across both centralized functions in Richmond, BC, and decentralized operating locations across western Canada and northwestern United States. A key achievement of my role was the design and execution of Multilateral Instrument 52-109 compliance program for the organization. Other specific responsibilities and deliverables included:
Performed acquisition due diligence and post-acquisition organizational integration;
Developed a rolling risk based internal audit plan and quarterly reporting process for both Executive Management and the Audit Committee;
Performed risk based operational / performance audits across all subsidiary and head office operations;
Led all investigations where suspicions of occupational fraud were raised;

The Alderwoods Group Inc. (Formerly The Loewen Group Inc.) - Burnaby, B.C. / Toronto, On.
The Alderwoods Group was a publicly listed company that owned and operated over 1,600 funeral home and cemeteries in Canada, US, Puerto Rico, Mexico, France, and England. After a significant law suite, a hostile takeover attempt, and a period of poor earnings, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy as the Loewen Group, emerged as the Alderwoods Group, and eventually was wound down and sold.
