MAJOR PROJECT

Project Title: “Modeling of three phase active power filter”.

Description: Nonlinear loads such as traditional diode / thyristor rectifiers with R, L, C loads generate harmonic and reactive current, which leads to poor power factor, low energy efficiency and harmful disturbance to other appliances. Active Power Filters (APFs) are one of the viable solutions to eliminate power line harmonic/reactive currents generated by nonlinear loads and improve the power factor. A shunt APF is connected in parallel with the nonlinear loads and functions as current sources to cancel the harmonic/ reactive components in the line current so that the current flow into and From the grid is sinusoidal and in phase with the grid voltage.
