VOLUNTEER SERVICE

1984 Volunteer work at Presbyterian Center.

1984 Volunteer answering phone for Multiple Sclerosis Telethon. 1984 Organized a donation of clothing and household items from nursing students for the local women’s clinic. 1985-88 Organized and planned Senior Citizens Day at the South Plains Fair, which was attended by over 500 senior citizens. The day’s activities included taking blood pressures, health teaching, exercises, talent contest, dance contest, and games. Actively pursed local business to donate items for a morning and afternoon snack, as well as a lunch for the senior citizens. 1984 Organized and assisted a raffle to raise money for the Texas Nursing Students’ Association Community Project for Jamaica.

1984 Organized and planned for nursing students to take blood pressures at the South Plains Mall. 1985 Assisted in health teaching of 6th graders at Williams Elementary School. 1986 Conducted remotivational therapy session with a group of patients at the Lubbock Christian Convalescent Center for senior citizens.

1986 Assisted in taking blood pressures for the American Heart Association during a walk-a-thon. 1987 Conducted a reminiscing session with a group of patients at the Adult Day Care Health Activities Center. 1988 08/2000-01 Room mother for 6th grade class at Whiteside Elementary 2003-06 Assisted at South Plains Food Bank each Christmas holiday season. 2003-07 Coronado Tennis Team parent volunteer.
