The responsibilities of my position includes conducting comprehensive health assessments of complex patients in both the in-patient and out-patient setting, planning and coordinating their care and monitoring their progress with a high level of autonomy as well as in collaboration with the attending Physician.
Out-patient clinic responsibilities include overseeing patients receiving chemotherapy, transfusions, and other IV therapies in the clinic; writing chemotherapy and transfusion orders, managing side effects related to treatment, managing acutely ill patients and coordinating hospital care when necessary.
In-patient responsibilities include performing initial and ongoing patient assessments, formulating clinical decisions, participating in team rounds, performing admission history and physicals and discharge summaries, implementing therapeutic regimens including antibiotic therapy and cytotoxic chemotherapy, requesting other medical consultation services and ongoing communication to family and primary outpatient providers regarding plan of care.
Additional responsibilities include;
Perform diagnostic bone marrow biopsies and aspirations in the in-patient and out-patient setting as the patients diagnosis, treatment and/or clinical situation requires.
Participate in the evaluation, care, progress monitoring and documentation of patients enrolled in clinical research protocols.
Integrating education, research and leadership into clinical role
Mentor junior Advance Practice Providers, and act as clinical resource to both APP and other colleagues
Coordinate and manage APP schedules
Development and support of APP on-boarding process and procedures and ensure practice compliance
Participate in the development and implementation of APP and division practice initiatives
Support and promote communication between division physician and administrative leaders and the APP practice
I have excellent interpersonal skills and possess the ability to learn complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
