Project1: Credit risk analysis for CredX

CredX is a leading credit card provider that gets thousands of credit card applications every year. But in the past few years, it has experienced an increase in credit loss. The CEO believes that the best strategy to mitigate credit risk is to ‘acquire the right customers’.

This project is to help CredX identify the right customers using predictive models. Using past data of the bank’s applicants, we need to determine the factors affecting credit risk, create strategies to mitigate the acquisition risk and assess the financial benefit of your project.

Responsibilities:

Data quality issues are identified and data cleaning and data formatting is done in both the datasets (Demographic and Credit Bureau Data).

Univariate/Bivariate and Derivative Analysis is done.

Exploratory Data Analysis is conducted to extract useful insights.

Weight of Evidence and Information Value Analysis is done to identify the important predictor variables.

Different models are built and are evaluated using evaluation metrics and the best model is chosen.

Used the models, to predict defaulters and also the important predictor attributes are identified.

Application score card is built on the best model and the cut-off score is identified below which we should not grant credit cards to applicants.

Based on the model, the potential financial benefit is assessed from P&L perspective.

Bank of America, USA August 2012 – December 2014

Role: Technical Lead

Project: Large Currency Reporting (FINCEN)

The application is to report all the transactions with amount greater than $10000 to the US government. If the transaction amount made by the customer is greater than 10000, then the particular transaction is reported to the US government, as part of Anti-Money Laundering action. All these transactions are captured from various systems like ATM machines, Teller machines, Online etc. Certain fields like Branch No etc are expanded in the format in which we send the transaction details to the government. The process of sending the transaction details to the government is called E-filing.

Responsibilities:

As a Technical Lead, involved in all phases of the project and managed to successfully implement the Project.

Active and full-time involvement in various phases of SDLC from requirement gathering & analysis to production release: clarifying objectives, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams to deliver technology solutions on time, on budget and to specification.

Bank of America, USA July 2009 – August 2012

Role: Module Leader

Project: Customer Information System – Countrywide Conversion

The application is to convert all countrywide customers (nearly around 13.5MM customers) into Bank of America system and load them into Bank of America database. The Overlapped customers between countrywide and Bank of America will be consolidated. A new Mainframes load process is built in WCC to convert the 13.5 MM customers from countrywide system. This will follow multi-step approach to load the customers directly to the database instead of traditional conversion approach used in WCC.

Project: Customer Information System INDEX

The leading banks in USA, JP Morgan Chase and BANKONE got merged and application data is being converted from JPMC to BANKONE as JPMC’s system will be decommissioned in future. This project involves the conversion of merging customer and account data into BANKONE. The third parties which retrieve application data from JPMC will in future need to achieve this from BANKONE’s system.

Project: European Union Mobility

The application is to send PAL/CAL messages to the EU (European Union) eligible cities, if any PRM (Passengers with reduced Mobility) passengers are travelling. PAL/CAL messages will contain the names of all the PRM passengers along with the SSR’s (Special Service Request) that the Passengers requested for and the messages to be sent to the EU eligible cities.
