Worked as a contractor for Mainframe development at Follett School Solutions. My role was as an individual contributor for a new project to open remote fulfillment centers throughout the country. I wrote new applications in mainframe COBOL assembler and AG software’s Natural language with use of CICS and VSAM. I also refactored assembler language code to Natural programs source.

Principal Software Engineer in the DB2 tools group

My role was to lead special projects to design, support, and develop DB2 utility tools. Achieved all team goals as well as exceeded performance goals established through designing and planning within the AGILE process. Work with the product owner, completed the requirements of the project on time and within budget My primary responsibility was the Reorg DB2 utility product, though I supported all other CA utility tools. The project and support work employed knowledge of DB2, DB2 utilities, JCL, VSAM, SQL, and CA DBA tools. I used knowledge of DB2 Page formats, catalog structure, VSAM linear datasets, and ZPARM implementation to address customer support issues within DB2 tools. The following is short list of accomplishments from my time at CA Technologies:

•Lead product training for team members, developing and teaching with Powerpoint Presentations

•Developed educational material including videos to be used for customer training.

•Re-architected the Reorg product to attain a greater than a 30% zIIP offload, exceeding the team goals.

•Implemented DB2 ZPARM functionality to allow for greater availability for the online option of the reorg utility.

•Worked with 3rd party vendors to co-develop a better sort methodology attaining more than a 30% performance improvement in CPU and elapsed time.

•Received a US patent, US PATENT 7,177,885 B2, Method and system for reorganizing a tablespace in a database.

•Provided continual customer support, 24/7 for critical product outages involving utility tools.
