INTERFACIAL SHEAR BEHAVIOR OF HSC WITH STEEL
FIBERS AND STEEL STUDS
Duration: 1 year (Masters- Thesis)
Scope: Modern construction has seen the use of steel fibers in concrete to enhance its load bearing properties. Considerable research on fiber-reinforced concrete have proved that addition of fibers to concrete makes it more homogenous, isotropic and increases its tensile strength and ductility significantly. These effects are more prominent with high strength concrete having inherent brittleness. A study about interfacial shear behavior of high strength fiber reinforced concrete (HSFRC) subjected to direct shear loading at a material level was characterized through experimental investigation with push off specimens and subsequent validation through finite element model analyses using ANSYS.

Scope: Project dealt with environmental renovation of Kollam Thodu (a.k.a. T.S. Canal), located in Kollam city (Kerala, India), water quality analysis of its degree of pollution and suggesting possible measures to curb its pollution. Considering the historical importance of Kollam Thodu
(T.S. Canal) to Kollam city, some remedial measures are investigated and executed for prevention of its deterioration and for redeeming the canal sides in order to put it to better potential future uses of a sustainable development.
