Projects

Pension Scheme Project (July 2020)

• Conducted an actuarial analysis on the impact of public pension scheme reformations in the United Kingdom (UK) by using MS Excel to model the distribution of future pension financial statements and ultimately assessing the Standard Contribution Rate.

• Managed and executed the entire project from start to finish including data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modelling, problem solving, scenario testing and communication of insights.

• Gathered appropriate industry data such as lapse and retention rates through the IFoA and investigated the mortality experience to ensure the production of accurate cashflow.

• Carried out calculations to check the reasonableness of assumptions and figures. Prepared liability analysis for defined benefit pension plans based on actuarial data under a variety of assumption sets.

• Quantified UK government’s risk exposure and proposed ways to minimize risk.

• Prepared and presented a detailed report documenting my findings and conclusions.

Pandemics (May 2020)

• Investigated the actuarial perspective of pandemics focusing mainly on the impact of covid-19 on the economic and social environments of the UK.

• Using the IFoA publication – Longevity Bulletin 6 as a guide, I considered the amendments the UK government should have implemented on its pandemic risk models and public health policies in order to mitigate the impact of covid-19 on the UK population.

Saga Workshop (September 2018)

• Worked closely with a group of fellow students to propose ideas to help a local insurance company - Saga, develop commercially attractive products and services that would best meet their current and prospective customers’ needs.

• Saga is a leading provider of products and services for people aged 50 and over in the UK. They adopted a variety of our proposals from the workshop. For instance, the implementation of partnering with cottages.com to offer discount to their clients who desire to go for a retreat with or without their families around the UK, Ireland, France and Italy all year round. As a result, Saga increased their clientele by 10%.
