Prepare plans and estimates for roadway improvement projects including City streets and Caltrans freeways and interchanges. Design temporary traffic control plans, bike lane striping plans, and roadway plan and profile. Review plans for compliance with City, County, and Caltrans requirements (e.g. California MUTCD, Highway Design Manual, Caltrans Standard Specifications, FHWA etc.). Traffic Signal

Prepare plans and estimates for City, County, and Caltrans traffic signals. Prepare horizontal control plan, design conduit runs, and develop conductor schedule.

Collect travel time data and note existing lane configurations to develop base maps/models for traffic simulation using Synchro.

Conduct sight distance studies, ball bank studies, radar speed surveys, tube count installation, parking occupancy, ramp metering, and signing and striping inventories. Verify locations of existing features (e.g., utilities, storm drains, signs, striping, etc.)

Development

Prepare plans and estimates for retail, residential, and mixed-use site plans. Develop plans using as-built drawings from utility owners and plans from current designing consultants. Verify shop drawing compliance with specifications. Review plans for compliance with ADA access requirements in the California Building Code. Water Service

Design

Prepare plans for Contra Costa Water District service lines. Propose solutions to utility crossing conflicts in compliance with District Standard Plan requirements. Draft property lines (e.g., right of way and easements) from survey data (e.g., bearings and distances).

Public

Presentation

Facilitate pre-construction meetings. Present physical science concepts to five classes of 6th grade students. Present math concepts to 6 classes of high school students. Present senior project to panel of professional engineers and land surveyors.

Supervision Train and supervise teams of engineers for data collection efforts. Coordinate and adjust data collection efforts in response to real-time conditions (e.g., weather, construction, traffic incidents, etc.). Instruct and supervise up to thirty- eight students per classroom. Assign tasks and responsibilities, conduct performance evaluations, and uphold school policies and classroom norms.
