The first metal surface mine seen was the TATA Noamundi division. After seeing it my whole perception about mining had changed. The concept behind the protection of the environment by reclamation was amazing. Truck dispatch system was a good application to make the production economical.

I visited Joda division at the time of Mineral Development Awareness Programme (MDAP) at Joda, Odisha conducted by Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists (SGAT) with the other college students. It was just similar to the noamundi division but in joda, there was the water harvesting plant. It was amazing.
