Dear Physician Practice,

I am writing to you in regards to the Physician Assistant position posted on Glassdoor. I believe I have the background, knowledge, and ambition for this position. I previously worked as a Physician Assistant in orthopedic surgery at Mount Sinai and at Evanston Hospital in Chicago. In these roles, I saw patients in the office, pre- and post-operatively, was first-assist in surgeries, and oversaw the other orthopedic PAs. Orthopedic Surgery was very rewarding. I gained many skills in patient and wound care, surgical procedures, suturing, intra-articular and subcutaneous injections, casting, and external hardware fixation. After having my first child, I returned to work in a temporary, part-time position as a PA in allergy medicine. I saw and treated allergy patients, performed immunology testing, and administered immunotherapy. Prior to working in orthopedics, I worked for a Cosmetic Dermatologist. I saw patients in the office, performed laser procedures, and assisted in surgery. After having my second child, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. During this time, I volunteered in my children’s school and at the Brooklyn Women’s Exchange, a not-for-profit, volunteer-run craft and gift shop, supporting independent craftspeople from Brooklyn and beyond. In this role, I was in charge of children’s clothing inventory, making sure we met the needs of the crafters and supported them through the sale of their items in the shop. Because it is a volunteer-run organization, 70% of the profit is given back to the crafter. The other position I had this past year was Co-VP of the after school program at PS 8 where my son attends school. In this role, my partner and I managed the various classes for the program and were in charge of student registration using Sawyer Tools, Excel, and Google Drive. I was the point person for parent concerns and questions and worked directly with the outside vendors for the program. I negotiated the seasonal contracts with them and made sure we were meeting our budget goals. Now that my children are older and more self-sufficient, I am ready to return to work as a full-time PA. My prior PA positions have given me knowledge in patient and wound care, pain management, suturing, casting, injections, and lasering; all which make me a good candidate for this position. I would very much appreciate the opportunity to speak with you and your team regarding this position. Please feel free to contact by phone at 917-***-**** or by email at **************@*****.***. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope to meet you soon.

Sincerely,

Amanda Shinall
