EXPERIENCE Brookfield Renewable Power, Queensbury, NY June 2019-January 2020
Engineering Intern
Developed project safety and work plans for large scale projects on hydroelectric facilities. Exceptional safety standards required an extreme attention to detail, effective communication with project managers, and researching methods used in previous documented projects.
Worked closely with engineers to trace and develop full piping and instrumentation diagrams of several facilities. This project developed a thorough understanding of the interworking’s of a hydroelectric facility and its components.
Assisted electrical project managers with several tasks including: analyzed a full wiring diagram for a unique facility to calculate wattage/size requirement of a diesel generator to start the plant during blackout, analyzed wiring diagrams of facilities to tabulate information required for federal compliance documentation, and updated several single line diagrams for facilities with new equipment using industry standard circuitry software.
Compiled and organized data for over 75 electric dams in NYS to shift from selling power to the grid to a wholesale model. Each eligible dam could generate up to triple its previous per wattage revenue.
Lockheed Martin, Owego, NY January-August 2016
Co-op Technical Sr. for Systems Engineering Team
Wrote software requirement document for a weather radar that detailed how it must operate and communicate with onboard systems. Strong analytical skills aided in discovering that several systems would be unable to communicate with both onboard computers as necessary. Worked closely with software and systems engineering team lead to update software requirements to insure proper function. Document and associated software are to be used with all future projects at LM that use the same weather radar.
Moderated engineering review board (ERB) meetings to integrate and coordinate all hardware and software modifications to a helicopter. Moderating the ERB provided a thorough understanding of model-based engineering. Software and hardware changes often impacted several teams and engineering disciplines, so leadership skills were used to guide engineering team leads to resolutions.
