Primary responsibilities as an Advanced practice nurse is to provide safe, evidence based, and efficient care. I work closely with attending rounding neurologist to provide neurology in-patient care. Our group collaborates with another neurology group to provide acute to chronic care to in patients that require specialty services in the primary care of the patient. I have a working knowledge to provide care to stable and critical care patients with the intention to establish a collaborating relationship with the primary team providers. Patients are seen daily, billing is completed through Med-Alert, charting is done through Care Connections with the soon transition to EPIC in April 2020. Establishing the workload through the discussion of the group is initiated at the start of the day and reevaluated every week for effective and thorough patient care. The main function of the APN role is to round on in-patient and occasionally assist in the outpatient setting. The hospital setting that I provide care in is a level-1 trauma center, 800 bed hospital capacity, Certified comprehensive stroke center, and teaching institution. Average patient workload daily is 20 in patients. The daily rounds will evaluate the patients plan of care, imminent patient needs, updating family, and reviewing patient lab, imaging, medication, and critical discussions if required on every patient. Christ Medical Center is a Level I trauma center that also specialize in heart and lung transplant that provides 900 beds for occupancy.

April 2020 to present

Covid 19 requirements were tripled at Trinity Hospital which is one of our sister hospitals therefore, with the extensive Critical Care experience, I was transferred to assist the primary Critical Care Intensivist. My role includes bedside rounding, rapid responses, code blues, consultations from emergency room, floor, operating room, and inpatient rehab. During bedside rounding each patient is discussed with the entire team and a plan of care is developed, daily charted notes are completed, updated orders, and critical monitoring is done on in-patient positive Covid patients that may require a higher level of care. Critical care documentation, procedures that include trialysis catheter insertion, triple lumen catheter, peripheral line placements to include IV/ EJ. Advocate Aurora Trinity Hospital is a Level II, 490 Bed Hospital.

Position held: Arrhythmia/rapid response nurse

August 2011 to present

Primary responsibilities as an Arrhythmia nurse is rapid responses, code blue alerts, stroke codes, chest pain alerts, advanced arrhythmia interpretation, sepsis alerts, and STEMI alerts. Another component of the Arrhythmia nurse is to collaborate with the primary nursing staff on early identification of patient decline. Continuous education through bedside huddle post rapid response or patient consultation. Charge duties include the organization of daily workflow, huddle information to include safety events, communication with bed-management, and other departments to facilitate safe patient transfer.
