Re: Safety Manager

Dear Prospective Employer:

With 20+ years in Safety Management and Field Support, I have gained invaluable expertise leading safety initiatives within diverse environments (Midstream, railroad expansion, polyethylene plant construction, petro-chemical, refining, coal burning, gas powerhouse, wind energy, overhead distribution line, substation construction, paper mill maintenance). I excel at stepping into leadership roles under great adversity (poor safety conditions, lack of safety training, safety-adverse cultures, non-compliance) & producing exceptional outcomes. My approach includes focused investigations, reliable follow-through, innovative safety compliance approaches, thorough training and motivational team direction. I have earned numerous Safety Certifications and am fluent in Spanish.

Some of my more prominent accomplishments include:

Exxon Mobil: As SHES Manager, work with 2 General Contractors and up to 140 staff to ensure comprehensive safety conditions at this Midstream Site. Took initiative to institute numerous procedures, including safety plan/requirements reviews, weekly audits, 30-day lookaheads, gap analysis and close examination of lifting procedures and crane/rigging plans.

Lyondell Blasell: Managed safety and oversaw 2 General Contractors and 140 staff for a railroad expansion initiative. Ensured field and plant operations ran smoothly and monitored gas detection procedures rigorously. Conducted rail installation-specific safety training for all staff.

Dow Chemical: Brought on board to restore safety to site that had numerous problems, including General Contractors ignoring procedures (leading to injuries) and not reporting properly. Issued stand-downs to change lack of critical safety procedures (no hard hats/safety glasses) and ensured reporting was regularly enforced.

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries/Exxon Mobil NAG Project: Worked “hand in hand” with Exxon Mobil Senior Safety Manager & Safety Department staff to guarantee safety compliance for polyethylene, ground flare, cooling tower and utility units, as well as to build trust & guarantee effective safety operations for 400+ employees. Transformed culture to one focused on safety at all times, resulting in no reportable injuries & no lost time accidents.

The attached resume presents my capabilities and accomplishments in greater detail. Please feel free to contact me directly at (Cell) 832-***-**** or ***********@***.***.

Sincerely,

Rodger Medina II
