ETL Team Leader Capgemini Jan 2019 – Jul 2020
Technical leader in charge of a 4-person Agile data integration code development team, then project leader of an 8-person interdisciplinary project team with onshore and offshore members, including developers, architects, system administrators. Project value in excess of $500,000, operating on tens of gigabytes of data.
Project involved highly complex ETL/ELT, GDPR-compliant data masking and data mining of multi-GB data sets using Talend Open Studio for Big Data to integrate data in MySQL, SQL Server (T-SQL), Dynamo DB, Cassandra. Integrated complex transformation of JSON and Google Protocol Buffers, protected by strong encryption at object level (AES, RSA).
Led initiative to develop and field de facto custom multi-threaded Java application for data integration/ETL, turning Talend Open Studio into a rapid prototyping Java IDE. Integrated normally unsupported technologies (object-level encryption, Google protocol buffers) with Talend.
Deployed application on AWS EC2 for multi-threaded execution of integrated data mining+ETL task, processing 16,000,000+ complex customer accounts intricately linked across 3 databases on 2 systems in the space of 6 days.
Promoted and given 8% pay raise within the first year due to exemplary performance.
Database Controller FIDF Jun 2015 – Jan 2019
Primary day-to-day manager of the Raiser’s Edge database, responsible for data extraction, transformation and load (ETL), data hygiene, data integrity and data access control. Integrated all bulk data uploads into the DB using RE’s data import/ETL component.
Primary operator of the database help desk. Responded to two thirds of all help requests.
Responsible for generation of 300+ custom ad-hoc reports using Raiser’s Edge query system and/or SQL query data, followed by MS Excel post processing with advanced functions, pivot tables and VBA code as needed. Built data visualizations and Raiser’s Edge dashboards on demand.

Performed Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC): semi-automated software testing using purpose-designed suite. Designed all tests and use cases, wrote over 90% of test suite code (all in Java).
