I started my mining and construction career in Welkom (Free State) in 1988 as an apprentice fitter and turner. Shortly after qualifying as fitter and turner I was appointed as a junior engineer to oversee some construction and mechanical work and maintenance. In 1993 I obtained my blasting ticket and completed various safety officers courses and appointments. In March 2000 I relocated to Rustenburg where I continued in the industry for various large companies. For 9 years I was in management positions, controlling and overseeing the various companies project forecasts, financial projections, invoicing, quotation, planning, payrolls and effective management of up to 350 employees in all job categories. All major fields of mining, secondary support, construction and civil works were covered.
