Data4Governance Hackathon Challenge February 2020 Project Experience Dashboard Team finished in Top 5% in the nation-wide hackathon challenge
• Project Goal: To provide logical solutions to how the government will use the insights from geospatial data to accelerate the application of data for effective decision making in delivering better public services in Nigeria with special reference to Health, Education, Transportation and Civic Engagement.
• Project Outcome: Only 38% of the health care facilities are functional. From the analysis, specific locations were recommended for provision of health care facilities across Nigeria (Health care). The population of children in financially excluded regions was 10 times more than the primary schools available. Specific locations were recommended for provision of primary schools across Nigeria considering the population to primary school ratio
(Education). Predicted the number of buses that should be deployed per location thorough major routes in Lagos, Nigeria (Transportation). Proposed an android app for citizen engagement which allows direct feedback from citizens on community projects by the government (Civic Engagement).

• Project Goal: To predict the expected Taxi-out time of a scheduled flight four hours before departure and help improve airline logistics and flight management.
• Project Outcome: The Linear regression model performs best on predicting taxi-out time with a root mean square error of approximately 1.42 which is saying that any of our taxi-out prediction is permissible with an error of 1.42 minutes. To achieve better performance in terms of taxi-out time prediction, some other features and factors can also be considered in terms of processes as related to distinct airports such as construction activities within the airport, runway pattern and size per airport, infrastructures and terminal concourse and so many other factors that were not available in the flight data history provided.
