Summary
I cannot wait to tell my future children about how a er 4 years of perpetual hard work and relentless determination, I successfully and honorably graduated university in the midst of a global pandemic, wearing a Monsters Inc. onesie and an oversized graduation cap from Party City.
Despite the uncertainty that has been the year 2020, especially as a freshly graduated individual ready to be released into the vast world of endless possibilities (and taxes), I actively le no room for discouragement. Instead, I utilized these vigorous hand-washing, home-ridden times to focus on various projects that have significantly helped me strengthen a variety of personal skills such as my diligence, time management, tenacity, and overall knowledge on a subject that constantly reminds me how worth it all of those long, coffee-fueled nights of research and working truly were. The topic of crime prevention and personal security is not only a huge interest of mine, but also very relevant in today's society. So, during the past several months, I purposefully contributed to the development of the Safe Choice for Kids LLC board game, of which the main purpose is to initiate kids into the safety and security culture by teaching them how to respond to various unsafe situations. I also co-authored and illustrated "My First Stay Safe Book" (1&2). These are a set of workbooks, available in both English and Spanish, which are meant to interactively train children on crime prevention and the importance of developing their defense instinct from a young age. Additionally, I co-developed another game called See Something Say Something, which is a card game that focuses on training individuals on active shooter emergency response. That is, what should we do before, during, and/or a er an active shooting event? Currently, I am co-authoring an additional section about body language from a criminological standpoint, for an already published book by Aristides Gonzalez called Evita Ser Una Víctima Más (Avoid Being One More Victim). I obtained my bachelor's degree in Anthropology and Sociology, which are also two great passions of mine, in addition to criminology. I believe that my strong interest and fascination for the way humans, society, cultures, and languages work have stemmed from my experiences living in different parts of the world, from South America to the Middle East, throughout my life. Thus, I am extremely excited to continue learning and experiencing, as well as to contribute to my fields of interest to the best of my abilities-- all while wearing a mask, of course! Experience
