My dissertation is a mixed-methods study conducted in an undergraduate microbiology course. It focuses on the use of learning analytics methods to inform the implemented learning design to encourage effective learning strategies and self-regulated learning among students. This work will support instructors’ inquiry into student learning in unsupervised technology-enhanced platforms. Additionally, it will encourage instructors to consider intelligent design of learning activities to aid in data collection to understand students’ learning behaviors. 2016 (Apr) - present

Design of evidence-based digital learning objects in entry-level Calculus course for STEM where student attrition and ‘DFW’ rates are high. Using these tools, we obtain information on the learning behavior of the students. Thus, early identification of at-risk students is possible within a few weeks from the start of the course, which can help in designing suitable interventions. PREVIOUS POSITIONS
