I started as Infection Control Practitioner/Coordinator in August 2012, to Provide Infection Control reports and surveillance monitoring and establishes and implements evidence based Infection Control strategies. Promotes and implements infection control guidelines/standards that improves patient outcome and reduces nosocomial infections. Facilitate educational, staff development programs to ensure accurate documentation of patient care.

Departmental Roles & Responsibilities:

Prepare and present an outline of infection control program focusing on key element mission statement, description of objective and indicators, presentation of action plan, including outcomes success measure,rules for functioning of the infection control committee,operating manual,links to other patient safety and healthcare organization programs .

Identify and communicate the requirements of infection control program o relevant internal and external stakeholders (including patient advocates) and develop strategies for involving them in the infection control program.

Play a key role formulating an organizational structure for controlling HAI and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the healthcare organization – while interacting with others appropriate.

Organize and support the meeting of infection control committee and technical working groups.

Provide specialist expertise related infection control on healthcare organization policies.

Review and evaluate infection control program regularly .

Supervising and coordinating infection control accreditation preparedness activities (CBAHI/JCI).

Collection and analysis of infection data (ESS).

Evaluation of products and procedures.

Education efforts directed at intervention to reduce infection risks.

Application of epidemiological principles including activities directed at improving patient outcomes.

Provision of high quality services in coast efficient manner.

Participate in research project.

Has been part of the commissioning team.

Perform Mantoux test (PPD) to new employees as well as to those who were exposed to TB patients.

Immunization administration.

Pre-employment screening tests.

Staff and dependents vaccination (seasonal and pre-employment).

Management of Occupational exposures to infections.

PPD tests and pulmonary tuberculosis exposure Management.

N95 project trained certified.

Dealing with Corona and H1N1 cases during outbreak.

Currently whole hospital is assigned to single ICP and Public Health Nurse and this indicates severe manpower deficiency. Area assignment will be distributed among the new ICPs.

Prepares and maintains all aspects of automated surveillance data collection and distribution Develops.

Establishes research projects to reduce nosocomial infection and promote quality health care and verify hypothesis.

Ensures accurate documentation of patient care.

Utilizes epidemiological and scientific evidence in evaluating and developing infection control policy and procedure, products selection and all other aspects of infection control program .

Facilitates education of patients and the visitors hygienic and community health measures - Implements and maintains confidential documentation, automated surveillance data and reports

Ensures implementation of infection control standards that improves patient outcome by reducing risk of nosocomial infections.

Oriented the students on the proper management on the area assigned including familiarizing them with the ward staff, rules and regulations, equipment’s, standard IV dilution medications, IV drops, and their responsibilities and duties as a trainee.

Delegated workloads to students on proper handling of patients and hospital management and make sure that the policies in the workplace are observed at all times.
