Sorted through submissions and voted on which pieces had publishing merit. This included scoring pieces, writing brief explanations, and discussion with other interns on the potential for each piece.
Communicated effectively with authors by sending contracts and writing guides, as well as guiding them through the editing process.
Posted blog posts monthly, including author interviews and film shorts on several aspects of editing.
Completed several rounds of edits on short pieces as well as novel manuscripts. This included both developmental and grammatical edits.
Involvement at Writers & Books, Non-profit Literary Center 2015-Present
Worked as a Visitors Services Associate in the bookstore, completing tasks such as enrolling visitors in workshops, signing up visitors for memberships, selling books in the bookstore, and research tasks for the bookstore and local authors projects (October 2019-present).
Organized and led a weekly preteen writers’ group called Writers Roc!, including organizing prompts and writing activities, facilitating workshops, encouraging creativity, and working one-on-one with students on their writing projects (September 2019-Present).
Worked in a paid position as the Writers & Books Venue Manager for the Fringe Festival (September 2019)
Served as the SummerWrite Intern, completing tasks such as maintaining a blog of student activities, organizing performances, designing and constructing student anthologies, tracking class enrollment, and processing registration paperwork (May 2019-August 2019)
