Java Programmer, Data Analyst Professor Jiang’s Machine Learning Project Sep 2019 – Dec 2019
·Studied the diversity in GitHub projects by sampling a subset of projects that are representative. The project was a part of Professor Jiang’s machine learning project, which collects code from GitHub projects and recruited developers to ask and answer questions about the code. Agile methodology was used to keep tracking on the progress of the project.
·Developed a program to a data file that stores more than 1000 projects stored in separate folders with different ways of data structures. The data file automatically collected the information of projects, and each row of the data file was a project including an ID number, owner number, clone URL, and topic. Each column represented an attribute of a set of values. The program was able to analyze the data structure of projects' data and output a data file which is easy to be converted to different file types.
·Worked on developing a tool inspecting the topics of projects and automatically exporting a preliminary report about the common topics most projects. My effort resulted in the tool being able to work as a search bar with any “topic” keyword. The tool scanned all projects having topics related to the keyword and exported to a data file as a report representing information of all projects having the same topics as the keyword and the total numbers of projects having the keyword.
·Developed a program extracting all topics of projects. Each project has multiple topics, and topics can be repeated in descriptions. The program was able to analyze each project, eliminate the duplicated topics and store it in the array. The tool was able to scan more than 1000 topics, eliminate duplicate topics, and store numbers of projects having the same topics. The program outputs a data file reporting analyses of more than 10000 topics for more than 1000 projects.
·Organized and documented the progress of the project as well as the codes. Ideas must be explained briefly and recorded.
