Project Control Engineer, June 2017 - Present
Thermal Management Control Development for Mild Hybrid Class 8 Truck Following the V cycle, developed multi-level requirements for vehicle functions, utilized Simulink to implement control algorithms, and developed/executed test cases. Designed control functions in Simulink that managed thermal actuators which allowed the engine, charge air cooler, battery, E-motor, inverter, and HVAC to operate within their suggested operating ranges. Performed FMEAs on the thermal system, identified safety gaps, and co-developed mitigation strategies. Executed Model in Loop (MIL) test cases and remotely aided customer with in-vehicle testing. Updated requirements based on defects, customer responses, and failure analysis which resulted in enhanced control functionality.
HIL BMS Development
Utilized dSpace tools (ControlDesk & AutomationDesk), Simulink, and Stateflow to perform Battery Management System(BMS) testing on a Hardware in Loop (HIL) testbed. Co-developed simulation interfaces and emulated vehicle controllers based on customer requirements. In Python, programmed scripts to perform automated HIL tests and developed a dSpace GUI to allow the user to select between automated and manual test modes. Analyzed and presented data to customer during progress meetings. Steam Engine Power Generation System
Co-developed control strategies and calibration values to maintain the engine’s super-heated steam and oil parameters.
Designed controls software for the steam engine’s automatic braking system resulting in increased system robustness, operation safety, and decreased down time. Collaborated with technicians and engineers to design effective test cell experiments. Participated in the execution of experiments, analyzed data, and quickly resolved software or hardware issues that resulted in system failures.
ICE to BEV Prototype Control Development
