ACS is an on-site customer support organization of Oracle support. I started at ACS as a DBA and later led a team of DBA’s to serve North Indian Customers of Oracle ACS. ACS DBAs are annually contracted to perform critical changes to customer databases, write database Health Assessment Reports for highly concurrent, highly available databases of multiple ACS customers belonging to Banking, Telecommunication, Transportation and FMCG industries. Some of the activities performed in both the roles are mentioned below for both of the roles one after the other respectively. First as DBA

*Consolidation of 46 regional databases, changes in schema on account of consolidation, partitioning and Virtual Private Database. Installation of 2 node 10g RAC (HP-UX) using VPD, stabilize the environment with each regional databases consolidation. Maintenance like addition of partition for each of the regional database and corresponding indexes. Install Enterprise manager, Tuning Pack, Diagnostic Pack, enabled alerts, RMAN Backup on EMC Storage. Improve performance of RMAN Backup using all the tuning remedies

*CBEC has five applications viz. import, export, risk management, GXS and ACES. These applications were written by various application vendors in different technologies viz. Oracle Forms, Reports, PL/SQL batch programs (120 no.) & Java. I trended the application performance, identified multiple problems in queries, execution plans, locking and deadlock, application logic change, stats gather, unusable indexes, partitioning, archiving, operating system, network, storage and suggested the changes in all the identified areas and brought down CPU consumption, Disk IO and increased throughput of applications besides implemented best practices.

*Configured database to use distributed transaction between RMS and ICMS databases, resolved distributed database transaction hung, locking issues etc.

*Resolved SLA on RTO/RPO without costly additional network bandwidth and network compression

*Performed quarterly DR Drills, quarterly patching, one off patching

*Clone database from production to test and dev and write SOP for team to follow

Employee Provident Fund Organization: Migrated 120 10g regional databases to 12c NON RAC multitenant, stabilized environment, RMAN backup using NetBackup, Installation of Enterprise Manager, enabled monitoring using Enterprise Manager, DataGuard setup and performed RCAs

Migrated 20TB Income Tax Business Application Oracle 11g database from AIX to Solaris (2 node RAC, Data Guard). Post migration stabilization, monitoring using Enterprise Manager, tuning database, defragmentation, suggested schema changes to reduce the scheduled programs by implementing partitioning.

Punjab National Bank - PNB Core banking application ran on Oracle database 10g, size 34TB, 40K concurrent sessions a) Migrated 10g database from filesystem to ASM, later upgraded the ASM and Database to 11g, migrated from 2 node RAC to 4 node RAC used RAT for performance assurance, perform periodic DR Drill as per regulator’s requirement, Disaster recovery when dire incident occurred, Monitor using Oracle Enterprise Manager, Construction of FSFO for test database etc.

Indian Railways: At Railways there were multiple databases and I carried out the following tasks

*For ticketing application NGET, installed 2 node 11g RAC on Linux, installed Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g, Created schema objects, stabilize the environment. Resolved contention during peak load (100K concurrent session)

*For ticketing application NGET, Installed, configured 70 WebLogic Instances, deployment of application & tuned

*Installation and configuration of Goldengate, implemented unidirectional replication between OLTP and reporting system, configured and integrated mode, written SOP for operations team, Applied Quarterly patches. Code deployment on dev, rest and prod, troubleshooting to handle 100K sessions

*For Freight Operation, tuned database running on HP-UX, implemented Enterprise Manager for monitoring later migrated this database to EXADATA. Patching EXADATA, monitoring through OEM, health check and assessment, testing EXADATA for redundancy, tuned and troubleshoot to high CPU consuming queries, compression, EXAWATCHER utility, written SOP for operations team for various situations etc. worked with Platinum Support team to resolve EXADATA issues.

National Population Registrar India - Migrated biometric (prominent datatype LOB having 23 resident images) database from MySql to Oracle 11g using ODI. Partitioned tables for this data in Oracle and used multi block size support. Validated image data across MySql and Oracle 11g using pl/sql algorithms. Demo recovery of database

RISL Rajasthan state Govt. - Migrated Govt. of Rajasthan welfare database from Linux to EXADATA using datapump, secure backup database on ZDLRA using TDE, test backup and recovery scenario & OEM monitoring

Bharti Airtel-IBM - Oracle Enterprise Manager Implementation at Bharti Airtel to monitor 600 Telecom Databases,

Godfry Phillips - Migrated EBS database from Linux server to EXADATA and demonstrated ROI, RMAN secure backup on NetBackup library using TDE, demonstration of recovery, documenting SOP, handover, implementation of Enterprise Manager, Knowledge Transfer and handover.
