Career Contour

November, 2017 to Date

Women Scientist-B (WOS-B): DST, Institute of Nanoscience & Technology, Sector 64, Mohali, Punjab, India. Project proposal technically sanctioned by Department of Science & Technology (DST, New Delhi) on ‘Encapsulation of pesticides by magnetic nanoparticles coated with polysaccharide to improve the input delivery’ under the ‘Women Scientists Scheme-B (WOS-B)’ of KIRAN Division & joined Institute of Nanoscience& Technology (INST), Mohali immediately to train myself for the project in June, 2017 and joined officially after financial sanction on November, 2017 from DST, New Delhi.

During this time, I worked on the encapsulation of pesticides with polysaccharide coated magnetite hybrid nanoparticles and polysaccharide organic nanoparticles. Conventional preparations can pollute the atmosphere and root healthiness threats. To daze its limitations, hybrid nanomaterials and organic nanomaterials were synthesized as measured release formulations and compared the encapsulation efficiency(E.E) and pesticide loading efficiency (PLE) of chlorpyrifos (chp) with the aid of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS) and Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP MS). Unlike previously reported encapsulation techniques such as such as metals, metal oxides, SiO2, graphenes and its oxides, polymers, polysaccharides etc. this approach aims to minimize crops demand for pesticides to gradually achieve more effective, safe pesticide usage via intelligent design that slows and controls pesticide release.
