Deputy General Manager Eng. Out fitting in L & T Ship building Chennai and Chief engineer with a highly accomplished professional of extensive domestic and international experience in managing profit centre operations, management codes, quality and team management. Plan the ship building and repair schedule and complete it stipulated time and budget.
Proficiency in marine engineering machineries operation on board ships, that includes maintenance, inventory, quality, health, fire & safety and compliance to environmental regulations in a 24/7 environment.
Management.
As I was in charge of dry dock and ship repair activity interact with many stakeholders such as the naval staffs, owner representative, Class, and internal and external work activity and ensure that the ship is upgraded and repaired within the planned cost and time. Every activity has to be meticulously planned, responsibilities assigned and followed up.
Managed ships dry docking and afloat repairs. It was a project that requires planning, preparation, execution and control. Made a proper planning that the dry docking process was both effective and efficient to complete the repair in stipulated time and within budget and made the ship owner reputation in saving their downtime and dry dock cost.
As a part of ship board management team for nearly 10 years, have gained professional insight and knowledge regarding.
Managed operations onboard in line with IMO guidelines that include SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM etc.
Lead, trained, appraised and managed a multinational team of engineers and technicians
Maintained management and quality control systems that ensured compliance to agreed procedures, KPI’s and met internal and external audits (ISO9001& 14000).
Technical.
Successful retro fitment of Scrubber in MSC Tamara in Turkish ports.
Ship building engineering activity including major machinery, main engines, propeller shafting and rudder installation.
Commissioning of new delivery of vessels.
In ship repair advice the owners on dry dock jobs and especially on propeller and rudder.
On board ships maintained all machinery that included fire and safety systems, diesel generators, compressors, boilers, oil separators, pumps etc according Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
Specialized in running of ice class vessels
Delivered new vessel from Japanese yard.
Worked on latest cam less engine (Electronic engine).
Involved in dry docking and repair work of specialized vessel of oil and chemical tanker.
NDT level II certificate holder for quality checking in ship yard.
Have seen over 100ships dry docking and in charge of ship’s dry dock work planning and job completion within stipulated time in ship yard.
Ship Repair Experience
Deputy General Manager (Engineering Outfitting)Ship repair in L & T Ship building Chennai from January 2013 till 2018.
In charge of overhaul of hull out fitting like main engine, Auxiliary engine, propeller, rudder, deck machinery, cranes and all the ship repair jobs.
Carried out removal and refit of propeller, rudder bush, main engine, cargo crane, cargo pump overhaul and other marine machineries overhaul.
Achieved record time completion in propeller removal and fitment on 18000GRT vessel.
Carried out extensive repairs on propeller, rudder, stern tube and other under water equipment.
Carried out repair in deck crane, deck machinery and other major machinery repair.
Specialized equipment repair in hydraulics and winch repairs.
