NURSING PERSONAL STATEMENT
Indirectly and directly I have provided care for individual who seemed ill even before I become a nurse and advanced provider. My grandmother Modesta Le Due -Vasquez was a nightingale nurse in her times. I learned the art of healing through the medicinal measures grown from her garden that helped heal gastrointestinal symptoms, exanthems, depression, blood pressure, menopause, and much more. Later after being accepted into Health Careers High School I learned about the fields in healthcare needed to promote health and healing to individuals. To my dismay my favorite uncle died of A.I.D.S. in the early 1980’s when this disease was new in the world and I knew then I wanted to understand medicine further. Following suite my grandmother died at Baptist Medical Center within two weeks of being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The desire in learning within me grew as I wanted to understand the multisystem factors responsible for the diseases of those who suffered. Pursuing a nursing degree and selecting an emergency room positioned allowed me to gain knowledge about diseases ranging from the A to Z.
Every aspect of healthcare intrigues me in wanting to learn more as I continue coming across diseases I had yet to discover. Knowledge of a little of everything has paved the way on wanting to specialize in Family Practice as a Nurse Practitioner to gain access into a position in the emergency department. My mission is continuing to care for others and apply myself in whatever is required to facilitate providing care to any and all individuals.
PERSONAL GOALS
Lifetime learning is a requirement of the nursing profession and now my advance practice role. As a novice advance practice provider. I will challenge myself in becoming an optimal employee in the transitory amount of time to effectively and efficiently service patients. I plan on being active in the Nurse Practitioner Affiliations and educate myself on the changes being made National and Global that may affect how I provide care. Long term, I will plan on becoming certified further in my field to avoid any liability in my field. I would also like to participate in fund raising health events to give back to the community and promote my own personal health.
