EXPERIENCE
FIBER OPTICS FIELD ENGINEER, CORNING OPTICAL COMMUNICATIONS LLC
My role was to troubleshoot any newly installed or preexisting fiber optic cables for a variety of clients.
I was in charge of planning all aspects of my travel arrangements to job sites, as well as the equipment necessary to complete the task at hand.
Conducted regular inspections utilizing the OTDR by looking for the following:
oMeasuring power loss
oVerifying that fusion splices were done correctly
oMaking sure cables are not covered in debris, dust, and dirt
oNotating/reporting fiber optic cables that are bent or broken
oCreated a list of fiber optic parts that were used during the repair
Provided my managers an email summary of all projects completed for the client.
Worked in the lab recalibrating equipment for our team before and after jobs.
Depending if I was in the field or in the office lab, I assisted engineers on projects such as:
oExperimental fiber optic cable testing
oTested the durability of 200 Micron for future Corning products
Determining solutions to any problems and issues that are preventing the fiber optic systems from performing optimally.
