PROJECTS
1. Investigation of pre-elongated 2205 Duplex Stainless Steel (DSS) properties under heat treated and cryo-treated conditions. (Jun 2018 to Dec 2018)
• Strain hardened 3 metal samples of DSS
• Heated one sample to very high temperature
• cryo-treated a second sample to extreme low temperature
• Tensile tested all 3 samples using a Universal Testing Machine and
• captured SEM images of the fracture surfaces
• Analysed the SEM images and tensile test results to make a conclusion about the mode of fracture.
2. Pack boriding of steels - Effect of process time on microstructure and surface properties
(July 2019 to Dec 2019)
• Made a coating of Boride over a variety of commercial grade steels
• Estimated the boride growth for different treatment times
• Made a comparative study of roughness, boride growth, and hardness for various cases of different materials
• Analysed SEM image to check for different structure of boride layer formed
• Confirmed the SEM analysis using the results obtained from XRD test. 3. Investigation of Surface Integrities of Nickel-based Alloy machined using Powder mixed EDM
(Jan 2020 to Mar 2020)
• Mixed graphite powder with dielectric medium for EDM process
• Employed full factorial method to adjust the process parameters for the experiment.
• Optimised process parameters using Fuzzy Logic Technique
• Studied the machined surface using SEM, XRD, Profilometry and hardness tester CONFERENCE
