Project: Customer Identifier Expansion

Customer Identifier is the customer key generated by Customer Data Warehouse and it flows through various systems as part of different business flow. The CUS_ID column was currently defined as an integer in the DDL structures on Teradata and CUS_ID generation is a file based process and limited to 9 digit integers only. The same was also referenced and cast as char(9) on the DML code in mainframe (in many instances across systems). Since, there is a challenge of running out of CUS_IDs in near future, it was decided to expand the char(9) cast to char(10) on DML code to overcome the current challenge. This provided a capability to generate CUS_IDs for many more years without any further challenges.

Responsibilities:

Worked on finalizing the complete requirement of the project by conducting extensive interviews with the project stakeholders and business.
