Responsibilities

I had the responsibility to attract nurture and retain talent, set goals, guide and motivate a team of industrial designers, 3D modelers, graphic designers, and branding specialists.

Our team is part of a larger team in the research, development and engineering center of the world largest packaging company.

Our goal was to continually be one of the top packaging design teams that sets new benchmark in the CPG space.

Accomplishments

I was recruited to reorganize and restructure an exceptionally talented team that lacked direction, structure, and process.

We were able to increase our commercial productivity by 65% while allocating time for award winning innovations, and personal growth.

We have rebranded the team to reflect the depth of services that we offered and allow higher return on investment.

I conceder my biggest accomplishment in this role was the promote a culture of trust between the marketing, financial, commercial, technical, manufacturing, and design team. This culture did not sacrifice the healthy challenge between the design team and the other stakeholders. This culture did not sacrifice the tension needed to push the envelope, it only made it more achievable.

The responsibility was to setup, equip, and staff the design studios. Created customer relations, while oversee the design process.

We were able to provide world class design services to a global market with a diverse design portfolio. Our portfolio included product design, packaging design, and graphic design.

Skills Used

I have used my diverse design skill and my global experience to establish, recruit and equip 5 design studios. Successfully managed to attract a unique clientele that were seeking creative and innovative solutions.

Design Manager

Lear Corporation

October 1997 to April 2008

Responsibilities

I was given the responsibility to establish equip and recruit talent for all the industrial design studios at Lear Corporation. After establishing the studios my responsibilities were to oversee the design teams for Lear Corporation encompassing product designers, CAD engineers, color and material specialist, and graphic designers in 7 US studios.

At a later stage I had the responsibility for all of Lear’s global design including England, Italy, and India.

Responsibilities included production projects, motor sports, graphic design, CAD, and advanced innovations and development.

Accomplishments

We started at Lear with 3 designers sitting in one 12'x12' room. By the time I left my position we had 7 global design studios with a team of 80 designers and support function, in world class facilities.

I have used my skills to assess, recruit and nurture talent, manage multiple studios, and help to promote a positive environment of creativity and productivity that was the benchmark of the industry.
