• Establishes and maintains a safe perioperative environment

• Functions as first assistant during surgical incision, excision, and repair of

pathology; and throughout the perioperative period

• Knowledgeable about the impact of the perioperative processes on the patient

and family from a psychosocial, sociological, and spiritual aspect

• Supports the patient’s right to ethical, legal, and competent patient care, and

acts to protect and advance patient’s best interest

• Demonstrates knowledge of the perioperative environment within the greater

health system environment

• Coordinates patient care with multidisciplinary team

competency in performing the job duties
