Materials Engineer

Master in Corrosion & Materials

Qualified Materials Engineer with extensive operations management experience overseeing a wide range of manufacturing process, such; cutting, machining, milling, boring, welding, heat treatment, sandblasting, material selection, superficial preparation, plating, coating, painting, metal finishing, lab, engineering specifications, audits, quality assurance, test, assembly, inventory control, quote and sales processes to identifying and implementing process improvements, safety programs, and quality control initiatives to increase productivity and improve total operations.

As a metallurgist I have worked supervising welding works on steel pipes, flanges, elbows, connections, valves, hangers, couplers, multiple and various tubular components in the oil, petrochemical and metalworking industry in general, in accordance with ASTM, ANSI, AWS, AMS, NACE, NACAP, AFNOR, ANSI and API standards.

The area of welding must be controlled from the purchase of the materials to the welding process itself, the preservation of the welding and, the training of the personnel for this purpose. Otherwise, both welders and inspectors have to be certified to achieve the objectives set in accordance with the standards of the industry.

I have applied polymeric coating to threads and components according to NACE and API standards. Performing the required surface preparation and applying the ideal method for each use. Also, to achieve this goal, a step-by-step monitoring of each process is carried out to ensure compliance with the standards. I have performed both functions, as a building inspector and, as executor.

During my years of experience, I worked as an employee with North American companies in the oil industry, such as: HUGHES TOOL COMPANY and BAKER OIL TOOL (with the Baker Oil Tool company I was responsible for the installation, start-up and set-up of a Heat Treating Plant and Phosphatized Line for components, hiring and training the personnel required to produce the 1 Mandrel for Gas Lift), and as an entrepreneur, I worked for METALOGY, as a supplier of the machining services and Heat Treating services, (specifically, participate in the engineering staff that developed the Venezuelan dual valve with the company CAMERON VENEZOLANA), likewise for the rest of the companies such as; FMC, WOOD GROUP, VETCO GRAY, GE, CAMCO and FLOWSERVE.

We developed tools for all the companies mentioned, mainly, CAMERON and FMC, these tools were, hangers, adapters, metal and metal seals, rockers slips, tubing head, casing head, valves gas lift, lockdown screw and Bull plug.
