Academic Project

Project title- Studying the ISR pathway induced by diazotrophic endophytic bacteria 2,4-DAPG overexpressing Pseudomonas sp. WS5 and wild type Streptomyces spp. in cereals.

Abstract- Pseudomonas strains producing the anti-microbial secondary metabolites like DAPG play an important role in the biocontrol of plant diseases. The present study focuses on characterization of secondary metabolites produced by Endophytic diazotrophic Pseudomonas and Streptomyces strains and their in vitro antagonistic ability against rice blast caused by Magnaporthe grisea and sheath blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani in wheat & sorghmm. Induced systemic resistance response in plants were observed by expression of certain genes involved in signalling pathway which gave long term protection ability in plants from infection.

Techniques used- qRT-PCR, HPLC, Live cell imaging, Fluorescence Microscopy.
