Project Sample of VMAX to VMAX3 NDM and ORS using SRDF:

Customer requested consolidation critical systems in specific Data Center area dedicated to HPC with future SRDF the critical data to DR facility. The source SAN devices – few VMAX20K. VMAX3 200K were purchased for local HPC area and for DR site. Connectivity between old and HPC area were completed using Brocade X6 switches. HPC source SAN was connected to DR Site with dedicated FC path for SAN data and independent Ethernet paths for systems interconnections. Migration temporary licenses were provided by EMC support. Some server systems were planned for physical move to HPC. Some new systems were installed in HPC to replace servers that will not move to HPC. SAN based replication was completed using NDM/SRDF and data for some systems was copied by ORS. First copy was defined as a pilot and POC. After applications teams and customer confirmed that pilot was successful, final copy was initiated. After all systems were stabilized on the source HPC – the SRDF and host based replication started for its data to remote DR site.

Sample of Successful Projects

SAN Lifecycles and Environment Refreshes

SAN Lifecycle Project #1: Successful SAN refresh project resulting in optimizing Storage Infrastructure and minimizing TCO.

SAN Lifecycle Project #2: Refreshed specific IT environment into dedicated SAN Island with maximum IO performance and stability features, resulting in most critical environment stability exceeding 6 nines ratio.

Data Centers Consolidation

Data Center Consolidation Project #1: Successfully consolidated 12 locations worldwide into 3 regional centers, each containing DR sites and High Availability Solutions, resulting in minimizing ownership cost.

Data Center Consolidation Project #2: Successfully migrated distributed IT environment into Virtual and Cloud centers, consolidating production systems into one DC while DEV, TEST and QA (also prepared to be DR Targets for production site) in another DC, minimizing maintenance and license cost.

Data Center Consolidation Project #3: New account SAN Storage and relevant infrastructure design and implementation into Managed Services DC Facility consolidating multisite IT environment into the single location simplifying management and maintenance operations and minimizing TCO,

Enterprise Archiving Solutions

Enterprise Archiving Project #1: Archiving solution with synchronous replica to DR site and HA local configurations. As a result, new Archiving Solution responded to business requirement keep specific files and messages untouched during defined time frame.

Enterprise Archiving Project #2: Database Archiving solution with SAN Copy DB archive files to remote site and periodical rollup them into standby database, resulting in critical database archived and rolled up protecting important data during business defined retention time.

BCRS and DRP Projects

BCRS Project #1: Business continuity project adding T1 SAN and using Metro Clusters configuration with automatic site failover transparent to critical production applications. Resulting in minimizing unplanned outages and managing most critical systems within defined in SLA time frame.

DR Project #1: Design and implementation DR site with DEV, TEST and QA systems as DR Targets for production environment with duplicated configuration for DR Drills without impact on Production data flow to DR Targets. As a result, risk of any issue with production systems was minimized as DR Drills were implemented annually without any planned outage to DR source/target systems.

High Availability and High-Performance Demand

High Availability Project #1: Metro Clusters with automated failover based on SAN HA infrastructure with Backups running directly to remote vaults. As a result – minimized unplanned outages for clustered systems and TCO reduced on Backup-and-Restore operations.

High Performance Project #1: UNIX/Linux/Windows environments were virtualized with NPIV functionality and connected to NPIV optimized SAN switches. Resulting in improved manageability and OS/SAN structure flexibility SAN IO response time was improved by 40% using NPIV configuration.

New Accounts SAN and BUR Design and Implementation

New Customer SAN and BUR Project #1: Architecture, performance estimation, raised floor required topology and space planning, Power and AC demand calculation and final installation and configuration for new customer SAN and BUR environments, SAN & BUR management and monitoring systems. Transition newly installed environments to operation support team with fully tested and documented operation steps and escalation processes.
