PROGRAMS INVOLVED
Leadership Training Institute (LTI)
LTI’s is a national recognized academy and our foundation is based on doing community service to make out communities a bit better. We also commit ourselves to team building, so that we learn how to cooperate in a group and have better communication with our peers.
Law Enforcement and Leadership
This academy is taken place at Thomas Edison High School of Technology, and this academy offers college class courses and credits will be used for high school electives. This academy also focuses on community service in the eye of a police officer or lawyer or even a forensic scientist.
Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES)
ACES is a high school program for students who come from a lot of backgrounds including minority groups, low-income families, first-family graduates, etc. They also offer waivers for SAT and ACT tests as well as workshops where we discuss how we can better prepare ourselves for college and how to get there.
National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS)
NSHSS is a international program nominated by counselors to students. This program offers free and cheap services for everything including SAT and ACT prep, open houses for colleges, scholarships, recognition on days we call “Scholars Day” etc.
EXPERIENCE
Casa De Maryland 2013-2015
In this program, we do many activities that we enjoyed to do including doing a fundraiser so that we could go to a aquarium. We also participated in protest of the Child Tax and the Immigration march. We drew pictures of our family and raised signs for the Child Tax as well as wore a shirt that either said “Don’t deport my Mom” or “Don’t deport my Dad” and stood on stage during the Immigration march. We ended up in new outlets and newspapers.
Summer Meals June 2018 – August 2018
Distributed free lunches provided by MCPS for kids and teens in our low income community. We provide activities that they and the parents can enjoy and record data. We also organize the activities we plan on doing by making a calendar and coming up with creative ideas. We advertised the program by going out to the community and handing out flyers and talk to parents more about our program.
Shake Shack September 2018- Present
In Shake Shack, we practice respect to our guests. In our shop, we don’t call our guests customers because we believe that they deserve the ultimate respect especially since our food is expensive and they pay so much just for our food. We also have special menus for different occasions and the people working here are super nice and fun! I have cashier, serving drinks, and cleaning experiences as well as customer experience.
