About Myself

I have my grade 12 and some community college education. I have both taken and taught various courses at previous employers. I am a type “A” person, I like to be early and will work until the task is done, even if it is a long workday or a weekend. I am loyal and dedicated as long as I am treated fairly. I am mechanically inclined and would do a bit of maintenance on company vehicles if I had the time, tools and supplies. I am a preplanner, in that I do not like to show up on a job without knowing as much as possible so that I can have a plan and save time, energy and money, and make myself aware of things that might be a problem. I like to work smarter, not harder. I like to think I have a good sense of humour and a lot of common sense. Although I smoke cigarettes, I do not drink alcohol.

I have to add here that even though I have a current class 5 drivers licence, I do not have a personal vehicle. I have not had one for the past fifteen years or so, but have not missed a day of work because of this, and I would either meet at a shop or on the jobsite. I bike, bus or catch a ride.

Experience

I have worked at everything from Customer Service to hard manual labour. I have worked in factories, warehouses, airports and construction. I worked for years in an airport environment doing ticketing, cargo, dispatch, loading, refueling, marshaling, towing, grooming and commissary. About the only things I did not do was fix or fly. I worked in a window factory, and a food warehouse, where I was in charge of the freezer.

I have worked in concrete for most of the time, mainly as Concrete Finisher, but also forming and framing. I have done walks, driveways, residential and commercial slabs, toppings, suspended slabs, stairs and curbs. With my years of experience a lot of co-workers would ask my opinion, especially if things started to go wrong.

Certificates and Courses

Current valid Saskatchewan class 5 drivers licence.

Whmis, from 2016, which I also had instructed and certified.

The following I have held in the past, but are now expired, even though I still retain a lot of information.

First aid, and a forklift ticket

Dangerous Goods which I also instructed and certified and a ramp safety course which I organized and taught.

Equipment used

I have operated a multitude of equipment including tractors, skid steer, forklifts, scissor lifts, pallet jacks, walk behind power trowels, tampers, jackhammers, jumping jacks, baggage tugs, belt loaders, fuel trucks, and saws and hand tools of all kind.
