My responsibilities included but were not limited to

●Assuring cleanliness of substrate prior to blasting.

●Take ambient conditions to assure proper weather conditions prior to blasting and coating application.

●Inspection of blast to assure it meets specs.

●Take profile readings of blast, using either Test-X tape or digital gauge.

●Witness paint mixes, assuring the mix is thorough not leaving any clumps or streaks.

●Assure the coating is applied within its pot life, that it’s applied evenly without any sags, runs, pin holes or peaks.

●Take DFT’s to assure proper film thickness via an Elcometer or DeFelsko gauge.

●Log all inspection information throughout the day, then transfer to computer and send to all necessary parties.

●Perform any destructive or non-destructive tests needed.

●Witness first and final jeeps to assure no holidays in the coating.

August 2018 – December 2018

My responsibilities included but were not limited to

●Supervise a crew of 15-30 workers in the coatings dept.

●Assist and fill in wherever needed blasting, spraying and metalizing.

●Write and post schedules.

●Perform daily inventory and ordering.

●Interview possible candidates.

●Perform reviews both probationary and annual, as well as attending any disciplinary hearings.

●Inspect all blast and coating applications prior to calling DOT inspectors.

●Perform any crane lifts considered to be critical, including all loading and chaining of girders on trucks.

●Testing blast media for any contaminants via a blotter test or a water test.

●In charge of running and up keep on wheelabrator machine.

●Working closely with inhouse QC as well DOT inspectors.

Activities

Besides loving what I do in the coatings industry, my family is the most important thing in my life. My wife of 12 years, Chrissy, is by my side through all the travel and long hours that this job brings with it. In my spare time I love visiting my oldest daughter, Desiree at college and coaching and watching my youngest daughter, Alexis in basketball and softball. Also, I am an avid hunter and fisher.
