Acting as QC for this company on two tank liners in the CVR refinery in Coffeyville, Kansas. The refinery required a full time NACE level 3 to be on site for the contractor.

ENBRIDGE OFFSHORE: DECEMBER 1 TO DEC 24, 2019:

I was contacted by an Inspection company that had an emergency need for an Inspector for this spot. Another Inspector had a death in his family and they asked me to take his place for a week. (CCI Inspection Services). I wound up staying until Christmas Eve. They requested me back after the break but I was sick for most of January with an upper repiratory illness and was unable to return promptly. I acted as QA over painting for the client.

MAGELLAN MIDSTREAM PARTNERS: HUDSON, COLORADO. AUGUST 5 TO SEPT 30-2019.

Just as I completed Commissioning on Shells Platform Offshore and got home I was contacted about going to Colorado to Inspect on 2 tank linings for Magellan. So I got there as quickly as I could and we installed two thin film liners on two brand new above ground storage tanks.

SHELL OFFSHORE: I WORKED AS COATING INSPECTOR ON THE SHELL

APPOMATTOX PROJECT DURING COMMISIONING. NOV. 2018 TO AUGUST 1- 2019.

Fill out Coating Inspection and all other required daily/weekly reports. We are using International Paint and Teslan Nanotube coatings. I am very familiar with the entire spectrum of these coatings.

CHEVRON: BIGFOOT PROJECT: MARCH 2018 TO OCTOBER 2018I

Worked just before and during the commissioning phase as a Construction Representative on the Bigfoot Project. Oversaw the insulators, painters and scaffold builders. I had Foreman and Inspection duties for Chevron.

BAY LTD, CORPUS CHRISTI, TX.

2016-2018

I managed the Bay Ltd. paint department in the Corpus Christi, Texas, Fabrication yard. I made personnel decisions, planned and executed work, ordered all material, liaison with clients, and QA/QC depts., estimated project manhours and materials.

GULF MARINE FABRICATORS, INGLESIDE TEXAS

April 2002- February 2016

Paint Department Superintendent: In my GMF role I was responsible for all aspects regarding the painting department. Throughout my tenure at GMF I brought the painting quality, production, and safety levels up to professional levels. Also, I managed 8-10 foremen and 70 direct hire employees together with several subcontractors. At GMF I also participated in estimating, and quality compliance to keep our ISO 9001 certification.

We built very large projects such as: Chevron Bigfoot deck, BP Redhawk deck and Spar, Conoco Magnolia deck, etc. Often several concurrently.

We used most of the large Paint/Fireproofing Manufacturers: Carboline, Sherwin Williams, Hempel, International, Jotun, Ameron PPG, Plasite. etc. Also innumerable other applications such as fiberglass, 3M Scotchkote, Heat wraps, melt sticks, TSA, dealt with tons of Galvanizing and stainless steel, etc.

While I was with GMF the Paint Department had a very good reputation with our Clients for quality and planning. We also were very frequently recognized by our company and our clients for our excellent safety record and attitude. Far superior to the rest of the company and something that I am very proud of.

BROCK MAINTENANCE COMPANY, FLINT HILL REFINERY CC, TEXAS

May 1997- March 2002

Site Company QC Representative/Paint Estimator: In my role at Brock I liaised with clients and inspected company paint work. Just after I started at Koch (changed name to Flint Hills) they dismissed their refinery rep. Most of his work fell to me. I would perform the initial survey of work for Koch, make written recommendations. Once they approved, I would estimate the job for Brock and send it to Koch. Once the estimate was approved. I would be the inspector for Brock. I also inspected all the other Koch work in the refinery and off site locally.

CCI INSPECTION COMPANY, THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS

1987-1997

Jonell Nixon was my Boss. I worked at CCI from 1987 to 1997. Most of the time as a Third-Party Coating Inspector. I had several clients, but my main clients were Williams Pipe Line in the Midwest and Exxon in the North East. I was involved in both clients’ tank programs. Taking above ground storage tanks out of service, cleaning them, and installing the necessary mechanical corrections and the proper liner. Liners could be thin film phenolic epoxy, mid film (often glass flake) or fiberglass hand lay ups for 60-120 mils. The last 2 years I was a Field Engineer for Williams pipeline. I oversaw roughly 25 Inspectors across the Midwest. Mechanical Inspectors as well as Coating Inspectors.

While working for CCI I did other work also: Power plants, Offshore, remediation, excavation for several different clients.

I loved my job, but my wife and I had children during this time and our oldest son got to be school age. So, I took a leap of faith. Quit my job, went home and started looking for a job. I did not want to be a missing in action Father. I stayed in Supervision in the Corpus Christi area for the next ~18 years.

1976-1986: I worked for various paint companies across the State of Texas. Fluor, Richards-on Paint Company and Service Paint Company. I worked my way up from helper to painter/to foreman, and general foreman. I worked refineries, power plants, and offshore.

I was known to be a very good painter. Something that I am proud of. One result is that although I am very patient with people I can tell very quickly a painters/crew capabilities.
